I do 3 sets of push ups and chair dips every other day, need some help please?

My bicep area stiffens alright. However, my chest and tricep area remains flabby. I feel the work out in my tricep area but nothing is developing. Also my chest area only seemed to feel worked out when I started push ups a few months ago. Now I feel nothing in them. I'm thinking of those chin up things, but what could I use in place of a bar if I don't have one?
