Is there a way to record HD gameplay footage without an HD tv?

I have been recording with a dazzle and I want to get an HD recorder but I don't have an HD tv. Is there any way I can record HD without having an HD tv? Even if it means I can only see the gameplay from my PS3 on the computer.
